Privacy Policy for Finoot
Last updated: 14 Aug 2026
1. Who We Are
Far Oeuf Ltd built the Finoot app. Contact us at hello@finoot.com if you have questions about this policy or want to exercise your rights.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Data you give us
- Location. When the app starts we use your current location to serve games in that area. During a game, your GPS track is used on your device only and is never sent to Finoot's servers.
- Public name. You can set a public name, which we show against your entries on leaderboards.
- Email address (optional). If you choose to give us your email, we use it to send you updates about Finoot. This is optional, opt-in, and every email includes an unsubscribe link.
2.2 Data sent to others to run the app
- Place names. To turn a location into a general place name (like a city or town), we send your approximate coordinates to OpenStreetMap's Nominatim service (nominatim.org). We don't attach your name, email, or any identifier to that request. Note that coordinates can count as personal data under GDPR, so we treat this as a data transfer, not a non-event.
- Subscriptions. Finoot is a paid subscription billed through the Apple App Store and Google Play. They handle your payment — we never see your card details — and we receive only your subscription status so we can unlock the app.
We use no analytics, tracking, crash-reporting, or advertising tools.
3. How We Use Information, and Our Legal Bases
- To run, maintain, and improve the app, and to operate leaderboards — our legitimate interest and our contract with you.
- To send email updates — only with your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
4. Data Sharing
We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information. We share data only with the providers needed to run the app: OpenStreetMap's Nominatim (place names) and Apple/Google (billing).
5. Data Retention
We keep leaderboard entries and public names for as long as they're needed to run the leaderboards. If you give us your email, we keep it until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it.
6. Children
Finoot is not intended for children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
7. Your Rights under GDPR
You have the right to access, update, or delete your personal data, to object to or restrict how we use it, and to withdraw consent at any time. Contact us at hello@finoot.com. We're a small team but aim to resolve requests within seven days. You also have the right to complain to the UK's Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
